Hey, New Mom: Here’s the Real Reason Why You’re So Tired in the Morning

Any woman who is a mother knows exactly how much your kids rely on you.

They see you as “supermom” in a sense.  Feeling tired, or just needing a break is almost impossible.

We try to cook, clean, take care of their needs, and play every day.  That’s why we had kids and we love it… when we feel good!

However, sometimes I wish I could clone myself!   Sometimes I just feel like… sleeping (shh… don’t tell anyone).

  • Needs sleep
  • Too cold or too hot
  • Teething pain
  • Something painful and hard to notice
  • Wants less stimulation
  • Wants more stimulation
  • Not feeling well

Breastfeeding a three-year-old, in praise of Tamara Ecclestone

Tamara Ecclestone is back on TV again, something I know about not because I’ve seen her new reality programme, but because the press is reacting with horror at the fact that she is still breastfeeding her daughter, in it – and daring to talk, openly and in public, about breastfeeding a three-year-old .

I won’t link to any of the posts, but it’s a predictable bunch of the usual, terrible tabloid suspects, a combination of faux horror about her ‘sparking debate’ and ‘shocking viewers’ and a barrage of disgusted tweets from members of the public while they slyly step back,

When my second son cried for 20 minutes out of every hour as an infant I perfected the technique of wrapping him in a blanket to simulate the womby coziness he seemed to be missing. Savannah Guthrie is also an expert swaddler, it seems. Watch what happened… Read more »Read more

My birth experience was so awful, I stopped going to the doctor

There’s the birth of my son as I wrote about it on my blog. Then there’s the rest of the story – the significant complications involved with my labor and delivery, an experience that was so distressing it took me a couple years to be more open about it. And then there are deeper wells of feelings and hurts, which I haven’t even begun to mine yet. This is to say that the birth of my son was traumatic —

Could breastfeeding weight loss be a myth? – BabyCenter Blog

There’s so much pressure on women to get their pre-baby body back after giving birth. It’s unreasonable, unfair and adds to the mountain of body shaming women experience.
